Gift Ideas for the Photography Lover Straight from Amazon!
If you know anything about me, you know that I love Amazon Prime almost as much as I love photography. So there's nothing that makes me happier when my two loves combine - awesome photography goodies that arrive at your doorstep in two days!
Here are some awesome products that I use myself or are on my own photographer's wish list
Scarf Camera Strap
We can all agree, the strap that comes with your camera is a bit boring. Show off your personality with a fun scarf camera strap. They come in all different patterns and colours. I've been using a chevron black and white one for a long time and I absolutely love it. You can find this beautiful one on Amazon here.
Umbra Hangit Photo Display
I have this fun photo display from Umbra hanging in our living room. It comes with little clothespins that I've used to clip on 3x3 photos of our family. I have the one in mint. It also comes in white, natural, and black. I love how versatile it is. When it's the kid's birthday parties, I fill it with their photos or at Christmas I take down the photos and hang the Christmas cards we receive from it. It adds a nice personalized touch!
50 mm f/1.8 lens
If you're still using the same lens that came with your DSLR camera when you bought it, STOP! Step up your photography game with this awesome lens! This lens will get you those blurry backgrounds you see in professional photographs and for a reasonable price ($245 on Amazon). This was the first lens I ever purchased and it's what I used when I was first learning about photography and it was a complete game changer! Your local camera shop can help you figure out which one is best for your camera and I promise you, you won't regret it!
I mean, come on, how adorable are these camera cufflinks?! Perfect for the guy in your life that loves taking photos! You can find these bad boys here.
Camera Shoulder Bag
Remember that boxy camera bag that used to hang from your dad's shoulder during family events or on vacation? Ya this isn't it, look good while protecting your gear! This bag has the perfect storage space for your camera gear along with space for your other personal belongings. Something to look out for when buying a camera shoulder bag is if it comes with a weather resistant cover, that way if it rains you just cover the backpack and you're good to carry on your adventures. I use one when I'm running around the city with families and I love it! There are tons of different ones, but I personally love this monochrome rucksack style. The one pictured is made of a cotton canvas and you can check it out here.
Samsung The Frame 4K HD Smart TV
Ok so this one's not cheap (currently $16999.99 on Amazon for the 43"), however, if you're in the market for a TV then it may as well be this one! When you're not using it to watch the latest episode of This is Us or let's be real... the latest episode of The Wiggles, the TV turns into a beautiful piece of art. It looks and displays photos just like in a real picture frame, just look at the picture below, you can't even tell the difference between a real frame and the TV. Seriously, look how beautiful it is. We don't have this TV ourselves, but a girl can dream right? And if you wanna go big, it also comes in a 65" here.
This is a super practical gift - perfect stocking stuffer for over the holidays. On one side you have a retractable brush that removes loose particles and dust. On the other side is a cleaning element that removes smudges and your children's fingerprints - all without needing liquids or glass cleaner! Your lenses will never look cleaner. I like this one and I'm always sure to have one in my camera bag!
Obama: An Intimate Portrait by Pete Souza
Pete Souza is the phenomenal photographer who had unprecedented access to President Obama during his two terms as President of the United States. Amongst the historical images found in this book (like the photograph of President Obama and his advisors in the Situation Room during the Bin Laden mission) you'll find unguarded moments with his family and colleagues. What I love about Pete's Souza's work with President Obama is that he shows in a compelling way through the moments he chooses to capture and the way he frames the photographs, all aspects of the President's life - the formal events, the casual moments, on the job and off the job. It truly reads like a 'Day in the Life' of a President and you can grab it here!
LaCie Rugged Mini USB 3.0 2TB External Hard Drive
This gift might not give you the warm and fuzzies, however it's probably the most practical of them all. The most important thing any amateur, hobbyist or professional photographer should do is backup their photos! I use this one as my travel hard drive because it's padded all the way around, perfect for extra protection in case of extra bumps along the way. It also fits the new laptops with with a USB-C connection so no need for special adaptors. You can snag yours here.
GripTight ONE GorillaPod Stand
This one is for the phone camera enthusiasts and also for you mamas just trying to get a selfie! The GorillaPod is awesome because it has bendable arms that you can wrap or bend around anything to get the perfect angle. Why is that important? Because you need to get into the photos with your kids too! So hang your phone off a lamp, your kids toys, or the kitchen cupboard and get in that photo girl! Grab your GorillaPod here!
